Fridge warm, freezer fine
Usually a defrost fault or a failed evaporator fan: ice blocks the airflow between the two compartments.

Freestanding, French-door and built-in refrigerators that run warm, ice up, leak or stop making ice. Food is at stake, so we tell you on the phone whether a same-day slot exists.
Common faults
Usually a defrost fault or a failed evaporator fan: ice blocks the airflow between the two compartments.
Condenser fan, dirty condenser coils, a start relay or the control board. We test each part before guessing.
A blocked defrost drain line or a split water-line fitting. A drain line can usually be cleared on the spot.
Frozen fill tube, failed inlet valve or the ice maker module. Common on Samsung and LG French-door models.
How we diagnose
We read temperatures in both compartments, check fans, defrost heater and controls, and inspect door gaskets. On built-in units we check the condenser as well.
Fans, gaskets, defrost parts and boards are worth repairing on almost any fridge. A sealed-system fault (compressor or refrigerant leak) is a bigger job; on an older freestanding fridge we often recommend replacing, while a built-in is usually still worth fixing.
